Who We Are

Native Voices: the Center for Indigenous Media at the University of Washington has been producing award winning Native American documentaries for over 10 years. As an organization, we are sensitive to the cultural backgrounds and interests of the subjects we work with. With Native and non-native producers in our project staff, we enjoy a great deal of access when working in tribal communities. The kinds of projects we tackle are quite broad, ranging from math and science education, to history, religion, and spirituality.

Native Voices films have won awards and have been screened at the National Educational Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, National American Indian Film Festival, Vienna Film Festival, Lincoln Center, Smithsonian, National Gallery of Art, as well as many other venues. More importantly, Native Voices is deeply committed to the educational use of our films. Through our efforts in distribution and dissemination, Native Voices films are used in schools, libraries, museums, and tribal communities all over the United States and the world.
